Our Story

Hello everybody! My name is Ryan Klein. AKA- Big Country. In
these photos you will also see me with my daughter, Anicia. We want to say "Thank You" for taking the time to check out this site, support always means a lot, so please share with friends and family.

I am just a typical guy who grew up in a small town in Michigan. Back in 2015 I was involved in an accident, caused by an individual texting and driving. As a result I ended up with a total of 4 spine surgeries,
I have 2 replaced discs in my neck and a 3 level fusion in my low back , all before I was even 30 years old. I was told by more than one doctor that I should just accept everything as it was and go on disability.

BUT GOD!

I am not going to lie and pretend that everything has always been easy, quite the opposite is true. In fact, I ended up in a dark place, depressed and even
hooked on pain pills (which not many people were even aware of).

Once my recovery was on the mend, I continued to live my life, working again, being a dad, a husband, etc. But I did not have that spark, that fire.

In 2023 our little family took a trip to Myrtle Beach to watch Brian Shaw compete in his last ever World's Strongest Man competition. Someone I looked up to when I wanted "to be a competitor", years ago. At that same show, I was able to meet Brian and even some of the other competitors such as Mark Felix. I told them "I wish I could do this, BUT...". Our short conversations involved the phrase "What is your excuse" as they told me some of the obstacles they have also had.

So... HERE WE ARE! I started my first competition in 2024 in
Wisconsin, where I took 2nd place. Then I started my annual trips to Harbor Beach Michigan where I took 2nd place in 2024 and tied in points for 2nd place
in 2025.

God took me out of such a dark place. I was happy that I made it through my past but I realized I was here to do more. More than justexist. More than just be a "big guy". Now I do not plan to do this forever, I do not plan to make this a career. But at this point, I am learning it is not about MY PLANS. So I am here for the ride until I am told otherwise. I am here to prove that we do not have to accept (doom and gloom) for "what it is". I am doing things I was told I would never be able to do again. But of course, they said several times that I shouldn't even be
alive, and here we are.

That brings me to why we are here, now, explaining all of
this. I am registered to compete at Battle on the Beach in Harbor Beach in July. Next we are going to Great Lakes Strongest in Traverse City in September.
These are great competitions. But also, unexpectedly, I was invited to compete at World's Strength Games in Utah in May 2027. The only way to compete there is by winning a regional competition or an actual invitation. I received the
latter.

With all of these comes a cost. So we are hoping that with your help, we can continue to be a part of something great. I can boldly say "Look what the Lord has done".

To some, this experience may not seem like a big deal, and
that is ok. But I know that I had to go through this for a reason, for somebody else. To encourage somebody else out there. And to announce to all that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and I am not ashamed!

This year, my oldest daughter has decided she wants to join me. So here we are doing this together (but we all know it takes the whole family to do this). Anicia is also competing in July at Harbor Beach with a possibility of Traverse City in September. Being a strong dad, is about more than being a "strong dad". Life has taught me I (we) cannot do it alone. Especially in the world we live in today. The bible says "we are in this world, but we are not of this world".

We are asking for financial support as we go through this. Plus, who doesn't like to wear a cool shirt or hat from local business and athletes alike..?
